TEHRAN (FNA)- The Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement has dispatched hundreds of its ready-to-fight forces to the Central Homs province to take part in a large-scale operation with the Syrian forces to recapture the ancient city of Palmyra from the ISIL terrorists, intelligence sources disclosed Wednesday.
The source said that the Syrian Army, popular force, Hezbollah fighters and the Russian Air Force are coordinating to launch a joint massive operation to win back militant-held Palmyra city.
The experienced Hezbollah fighters, as one of the main allies of the Syrian government in its fight against terrorism, have won many battles across the country, including Zabadani in Damascus province, Aleppo countryside and Lattakia province.
Sources said on Tuesday that the Syrian Army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) won key battles against ISIL terrorists in two key areas in the Western countryside of Palmyra (Tadmour) after killing at least 25 militants.
The sources said that the pro-government forces broke through the ISIL militants' defense lines in Tal Syriatel and Jabal Ma'ar and retook full control over these two important areas.
The Syrian forces are fortifying their position around the newly-recaptured areas to fend off the ISIL possible infiltration attempts.
