A Palestinian woman has been killed by Israeli forces at a checkpoint in the occupied West Bank, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed in the past 40 days to 80.

Palestinian sources said on Monday that the Palestinian was shot dead at a checkpoint in the West Bank town of Qalqilya.

Israeli forces claim the victim had attempted to attack them with a knife.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, 80 Palestinians including, four women and 17 children, have been killed by Israelis since the beginning of October. Most of the killings have taken place in East al-Quds Jerusalem, Ramallah, and al-Khalil (Hebron).

More than 3,000 others have also been injured.

On Sunday, Hanin Zoabi, a lawmaker with the far-left Jewish group, Joint List, slammed Israel’s “racist policies,” during a visit to the Netherlands’ capital, Amsterdam.

She further said the regime had undertaken an “ethnic cleansing” against Palestinians.

Tensions in the occupied territories have dramatically escalated in recent weeks due to the Israeli regime’s imposition of restrictions in August on the entry of Palestinian worshipers to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

Palestinians are angry at increasing violence by Israeli settlers at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound and their attacks on Palestinian properties, saying that the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.
