The United States says the American military and its allies have pounded Daesh (ISIL) positions in Iraq and Syria over two dozen times.
The US and its allies targeted Daesh in Iraq with 20 airstrikes on Friday, and also hit the militant group with seven airstrikes in Syria, the American military said on Saturday.
Nine of the strikes in Iraq were staged near Ramadi, the capital of western Anbar Province, hitting tactical and fighting units of the terrorist group.
The aerial attacks hit weapons caches and two tunnels, according to the military statement.
Meanwhile, similar US-led attacks reportedly hit militant positions in Syria, near the al-Hawl and al-Raqqah regions, targeting ISIL’s tactical units and buildings, it added.
This is while Iraqi officials have on different occasions questioned the efficacy of the US-led attacks on militant positions.
Gruesome violence has plagued the northern and western parts of Iraq ever since ISIL Takfiris launched an offensive in June 2014, and took control of portions of Iraqi territory.
Daesh terrorists have also been wreaking havoc on Syria, where the country has been gripped by deadly violence since March 2011. The United States and its regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey - have been supporting the militants operating inside Syria since the beginning of the crisis.
