MILITANT ATTACK NEAR RUSSIAN CONSULATE KILLS 4 IN SYRIA'S ALEPPO

At least four people have been killed and some others injured in a militant attack near the Russian consulate in Syria’s northern city of Aleppo.

More than six people were also injured as rockets fell close to the Russian diplomatic mission in the militant-riddled city on Monday.

No further details were immediately available on the terror attack.

The control of Aleppo, which was used to serve as Syria’s major trade hub before the deadly crisis started in the Arab country in March 2011, has been divided between government and militants.

The latest attack comes weeks after foreign-backed terrorists fired shells at the Russian embassy in the capital, Damascus, on October 13.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had called the attacks an act of terrorism, aimed at intimidating supporters of the fight against Daesh militant group and other Takfiri terrorists.

Russia started an aerial campaign against terrorists in Syria on September 30 at the request of the Damascus government.

Moscow says its attacks have targeted Daesh, al-Nusra Front and other terrorist groups that have wreaked havoc in Syria.

This is while the US and some of its regional allies, including Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, have lent staunch support to the Takfiri groups there.

Since late September 2014, the US, along with some of its allies, has been conducting airstrikes purportedly against Daesh extremists inside Syria without any authorization from Damascus or a UN mandate.

In an interview with China's Phoenix television on November 22, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that terrorists harrying the country grew in power after the United States and its allies started the aerial strikes.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy for four and a half years. More than 250,000 have lost their lives and millions displaced as a result of the crisis in the war-torn Arab country.

The foreign-sponsored militancy has displaced 7.6 million Syrians.
