TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army and its popular allies repelled the ISIL offensives in the energy-rich regions of the Eastern part of Homs province , the army said Friday, adding the militants suffered a heavy death toll.
"The Syrian army alongside the National Defense Forces (NDF) thwarted the ISIL assault on the strategic al-Sha’er Gas Fields near Well 101 and Well 102 earlier this morning, however, the terrorist group will likely launch another assault in the coming hours," the army said.
Sources said on Thursday that the Syrian warplanes intensified their air raids on the ISIL positions in the Central Province of Homs, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists.
The Syrian airstrikes destroyed positions and vehicles of the ISIL terrorists near the ancient city of Palmyra in Homs.
The ISIL terrorists also suffered heavy losses in airstrikes on their movements and positions in the East of al-Bayarat area.
The Syrian fighter jets also pounded ISIL targets in Quaryatayn city, East of Homs city.
