ISIS IN CRISIS: ONE MILLION IRAQI'S SHUN TERRORISTS OVER CIVILIAN MURDERS

A million Iraqis have shunned the terror group in anger at the killing of civilians, it has been claimed.

Support for the barbaric terror group in war-ravaged Raqqa is withering away after two years of brutal control by ISIS that has seen thousands die at the hands of the the terrorists.

Now, the co-founder of activist group Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently (RIBSS) has said people living in the city are risking their lives and going hungry just to avoid pledging allegiance to the depraved regime.

Abdalaziz Alhamza said one million residents had formed a "kind of resistance" against ISIS - known in Arabic as Daesh - despite the threat of execution for those not signed up to the group.

He said: "After two years of ISIS control there are a million civilians in the city who haven't joined IS.

"There are doctors and lawyers without any work and they don't have any money, because the only way to work is to join ISIS."

Surveys conducted last month of those living in the city and those who have recently fled found support for ISIS was waning after years of militia rule.

Others complained about the strict ISIS teachings and the brutalisation of young children in Raqqa's schools, Express reported.
